Diet and INFLAMMATION

A small cut turns red and is INFLAMED as white blood cells arrive to help it heal.

INFLAMMATION is the body’s defense against injuries and bacteria.

Other causes of INFLAMMATION are self-imposed, such as DIET, lifestyle, medication misuse, and stress.

Over the long term, INFLAMMATION can cause joint pain, changes in blood pressure, high cholesterol, blurry vision, high blood sugar, and damage brain cells.

Information about DIET and INFLAMMATION is easy to find on the Internet… so much so that it’s hard to decide what to do about it.

The list of INFLAMMATORY foods to AVOID is long and not very popular.

Food to REDUCE INFLAMMATION is NOT on a favorites list but provides an opportunity to change an OLD HABIT.

Understand, it takes TIME to establish a NEW HABIT.

The ability to change our health is at the grocery store.

WE fill the basket.

Make CHANGES SLOWLY.

ADD ONE item to REDUCE INFLAMMATION.

Then, AVOID ONE item that CAUSES INFLAMMATION.

Choose carrots or celery, apples or bananas instead of salty chips.

The first few times are hard but keep at it.

Doing it once or twice won’t establish a NEW HABIT.

It takes practice and patience.

For more suggestions to help, see pages 177-182 in the book, Alzheimer’s, Be Aware and Prepared.

What else could cause INFLAMMATION?

Be AWARE and make a change.
